We offer a wide range of classes that are suitable for beginner and advanced levels
Long hours of sitting at the desk or doing sports like running and cycling can tighten the hips. As the hips and pelvis connect the upper and lower parts of the body, hip tightness causes the spine to be overused and this may lead to lower back pain and spine misalignments. This class will work on increasing flexibility in the quadriceps and hip flexors, hamstrings, glutes, groin and the pelvis. When the hips are open, this allows for greater range of motion, better circulation and support for the muscles of the spine. It will also improve balance, posture and prevent injuries in later life. Students will also have a chance to work on various postures and learn how improved hip flexibility can help them perform these poses with greater ease.
Backbends are invigorating and energise the body acting as natural a ‘anti depressant’. Heart opening poses stretch and expand the chest inducing deeper breathing and a feeling of wellness. This class will work on preparing the body for a safer practice in backbending stressing the lengthening and use of the whole spine in particular the upper and middle back. Poses will work on building flexibility and strength in the spine, shoulders, chest, pelvis and hip flexors. Students will be taught the correct technique in approaching various basic and advanced backbending postures.
In this class the basic, foundational yoga postures are practiced to align, strengthen and promote flexibility in the body. Full-body relaxation and balance are the goals, as we make a full circuit of the body’s range of motion with standing postures, twists, backbends, forward folds, and hip openers.
Stretch & Twist
Twisting actions stimulate the blood circulation and release tension in the muscles of the abdomen. When you do a Yoga twist, it creates an intra-abdominal compression and spine, and the digestive organs will experience fresh blood flow rich in oxygen and nutrients. It’s very helpful for back bend practitioners.
Arm balances increase core and shoulder strength, improve mental focus and build confidence. Students will learn the fundamentals and techniques for various arm balance poses on how to find their centre of gravity while strengthening their fingers, wrists, arms, shoulders, and abdominal muscles. They will learn how to use their core muscles to stabilize and connect to the energy and power of their arms and shoulders. This class will also focus on building suppleness in the lower body especially the hips and hip flexors that help them get into the shapes of the poses minimizing the effort required to lift off. You will learn how to trust your arms and fingers to find good balance in the poses with confidence.
Self has been associated with ElemitYoga for over a month. I started on 06th Sep and have been on private classes every weekend since then. I always had a desire to be flexible and fit, but this vision was left far behind over the years due to meeting other commitments in life. Since fitness was not practiced the energy level was mostly low towards the end of the day and at times the whole day, is like something missing from life!
I heard about the place ElemitYoga and about the trainer Master Amit, I thought let me give a try and check myself. An appointment was fixed at my place since the studio was far from Bedok. After my first session of 1 hour at home, I knew what I wanted for myself, but the problem was the travel distance.
After few hiccups, made up my mind and we mutually agreed for 06AM on Sat and 07AM on Sunday. Since that day there is no looking back, I just enjoy each session at Studio, it is so blissful!
So far it has been 13 classes and I can see the difference and the energy flow in self, most important I have started practising and applying techniques on daily routine after my work at 07PM. I have stopped to look down upon myself and I feel light/hollow yet focussed! This is my first steppingstone in 1 month and I sense “DISCIPLINE IN LIFE”!
I really like to thank My Teacher, My Guru – “MASTER AMIT”, and I like to thank God for this blissful journey. I know this journey is not easy because one is not in comfort and it takes enormous effort to handle my own body and be stable, but at the end of each session I discover a new myself, I just love that feeling and it will only blossom under my Guru’s grace!
I have a long way to go, but I know under the right guidance, dedication and discipline I will be there!
